This polo’s are loose around your arms and have a collar which can be flipped up to protect your neck from the sun for a casual and comfy look.
Since 1933, the tennis shirt or polo shirt has become so popular that it has become one of the standard categories of clothing. Everyone has made their own variations of a Lacoste Polo. Being tired of uncomfortable clothing while playing tennis, Rene Lacoste designed a white, short-sleeved, loosely knit cotton shirt with an un-starched, flat protruding collar, a buttoned placket, and a longer shirt-tail in back than in front. 1926 he first wore his shirt in the U.S Open. 1927 Lacoste put on his now famous Crocodile symbol on the left breast of his shirts. In 1933, after retiring from professional tennis, Lacoste teamed up with his friend and clothing merchandiser Andre Gillier to market that shirt in Europe and North America. Together, they formed the company Chemise Lacoste, and began selling their shirts - still including the small embroidered crocodile logo on the left breast. Lacostes design mitigated the problems that traditional tennis attire created: the short, cuffed sleeves solved the tendency of long-sleeves to roll down. The pique collar could easily be turned up to block the sun.
Today, Lacoste is huge all around the world. It is today worn by both men and women in numerous non-athletic contexts. Notably, polo shirts are worn by many semi-professional and retail workers in settings where t-shirts are not acceptable, but formal business attire is also not required. It is also a favored shirt for those working outside, such as groundskeepers and construction workers due to its ruggedness and style. During the 1990s, the polo became the normal informal business attire for the high tech industry and then spread to other industries. The Polo has also been adopted by Golf. Almost every golfer is seen wearing a polo.
As in Lacostes original shirt, sometimes a tennis shirt is cut so that the back hangs a few centimeters lower than the front. As noted above, this is called a “tennis tail”. The back is longer than the front so it will not slip out when tucked in. Professional Tennis Player Andy Rodick and Roger Federer usually wear a polo during their tennis matches.
Some Lacoste shirts for sales are not what they seem and can be fakes. So when buying Lacoste shirts for sale make sure you look for fakes which can have different looking logos, not the trademark crocodile or they are just made out of a cheap material. Lacoste Polos are a great buy for an athlete to a businessman.
